Gatekeeper will show up and not let you run the program. Control+Click the app icon to get around this.

UPDATE: 11/21/2024: Apple recently announced that they're updating gatekeeper to only allow apps downloaded from the mac app store and from developers with an xcode signature. This will not work on macOS unless you're on Ventura or older and/or until they realize how retarded they are.
